WCPF is delighted to announce that six wild camel calves were born this spring at the breeding centre in Mongolia. The Knowsley vets were there in April and have reported that all six are in good health. Their annual visit to captive wild camel breeding centre is an essential part of the successful management of the breeding centre.
This month – May – begins the long awaited construction of the second breeding centre at Toli Bulag. It will be named the John Hare Wild Camel Breeding Centre. Adiya the Director is there now with the workmen. The wooden buildings for the centre will be built first. Then the metal materials – the fence poles, strong fence mesh and gates – will arrive by the end of May. The aim is to have it completed by the end of September / early October.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards the cost of the new centre.
We hope to be able to share with you pictures of the progress.
And very many thanks to the Kolmarden Foundation as it has donated money towards the training costs of the staff at the new captive wild camel centre.
