The efforts to save and protect the Wild Camel extends beyond Mongolia’s borders, reflecting a global responsibility. The establishment of the Wild Camel Breeding Centre in Mongolia in 2003, by the Wild Camel Protection Foundation www.widlcamels.com based in London, marks a significant step. The Breeding Centre in the Buffer Zone of the Protected Area has 38 wild camels where breeding in captivity maintains a captive population in case of an extinction in the wild. The Foundation has established an Environmental Education raising local awareness and providing educational programmes for school children.
